The Ontario Federation of Labour (OFL) joins in unwavering solidarity with all those aboard the humanitarian flotilla to Gaza, including Canadian health care workers, journalists, and activists who have courageously joined this humanitarian mission.
This Freedom Flotilla Coalition embodies the power of international solidarity. The global labour movement stands united with those risking their lives to deliver humanitarian aid and to demand justice for the Palestinian people.
The OFL echoes our demands from this summer and we continue to call for:
- An immediate and permanent arms embargo on Israel;
- Sanctions against the Israeli government and those responsible for violations of international law and human rights;
- An end to Canada’s diplomatic and economic support for Israeli apartheid;
- Cancellation of the Canada-Israel Free Trade Agreement (CIFTA) and prohibition of all trade with illegal Israeli settlements;
- Continued funding for UN agencies, including UNRWA; and
- Immediate action by the United Nations to formally recognize the genocide in Gaza and hold Israeli officials accountable through the International Criminal Court (ICC) and the International Court of Justice (ICJ), under the Genocide Convention to which Canada is a signatory
On behalf of Ontario’s labour movement, we honour the workers, journalists, and everyone aboard the flotilla for their moral clarity and courage. We recommit to the struggle for Palestinian freedom, dignity, and self-determination because silence is not an option.
