“Our solidarity is undivided”: CUPE Ontario and the OFL reaffirm link between support for Land Back and Migrant Justice

CUPE Ontario and the Ontario Federation of Labour (OFL) recommit to connecting the dots between all workers’ struggles. Our solidarity for Indigenous Land Defenders at 1492 Land Back Lane from Six Nations and our solidarity for migrant workers are interwoven.

We support Land Defenders asserting their right to their traditional territory because we recognize the land on which we live and gather as being traditional Indigenous territory. We recognize the legacy of colonialism by extending solidarity and openness to displaced people from around the world. And we resist the Ford Conservatives’ escalating dog whistles about closing the borders and we demand action on the Ford Government’s failure to protect migrant farm workers.

These recognitions are one and our solidarity is undivided.

In this time, we redouble efforts in support of Land Defenders and in opposition to the rising tide of anti-migrant sentiment.
