The Ontario Federation of Labour (OFL) represents 54 unions and one million workers and is Canada’s largest provincial labour federation. The OFL is seeking to fill an 11-month leave for an Administrative Support staff position. The successful candidate will begin in October 2025 or as soon as possible, and report through the OFL’s General Secretary, to the Officers of the Federation.

LOCATION: North York, Toronto
START DATE: October 2025
HOURS OF WORK: Approximately 35 hours per week (Full‐time, 11-month limited term contract position)
REMUNERATION: Competitive salary, pension and benefits in accordance with the
COPE Local 343 collective agreement.
The successful candidate must have excellent interpersonal, organizational, communication and computer skills. The candidate must be a team player and able to work in a challenging and fast-paced environment.
The qualified candidate must have:
- Minimum of 5 years’ relevant administrative or office experience.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, Outlook).
- Strong organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills.
- Advanced written communication, proofreading, and editing abilities.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Experience with office operations and database/contact management systems.
- Familiarity with WordPress, Action Network, and social media applications (or willingness to learn).
- Commitment to social justice, workers’ rights, and the labour movement.
Assets:
- Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud (InDesign, Photoshop) and graphic design/layout.
- Fluency in additional languages, particularly French.
- Diploma or degree in office or business administration.
The successful candidate will provide a variety of administrative support, including:
- Providing clerical and reception back-up support, including answering phones, greeting visitors, handling mail, and taking messages.
- Preparing, edit, and proofread correspondence, reports, and other documents (including some graphic design/layout).
- Providing administrative support to departmental directors, specifically the communications, political action and campaigns departments, including scheduling, meeting logistics, and accurate minute-taking.
- Maintaining filing systems, contact databases, and distribution lists.
- Supporting event planning and logistics, including the OFL’s biennial convention (registration, credentials, payments, vendor tables, caucus meetings, etc.).
- Assisting with printing, document assembly, and related functions.
- Supporting special projects and other tasks as assigned; occasional local travel may be required.
