December 11, 2020
For more than a decade, the OFL’s March 8 Project has been supporting women’s organizations across Ontario as they rise, resist, and organize for equality across our province.
In 2021, as the project enters its 11th year, we are honouring this work with the theme: “SHEROS PERSIST.” It has been an unprecedented year for everyone around the globe, especially women, who are predominantly our front-line workers, our lifelines, and the proverbial grease in more economic engines. We hope that each pin empowers those that wear it to remain firm and obstinate in their life journey, despite any difficulty or opposition. SHEROS can and will PERSIST!
We invite unions, community organizations, activists and public to take part in the annual March 8 Project by ordering pewter pins and posters which are works of art that our members and community partners will value for many years to come.
The March 8 Project was developed by the OFL Women’s Committee in 2010 to celebrate International Women’s Day (IWD) and we are delighted to be building on the successful fundraising in support of provincial women’s organizations.
Individual pins are sold at a cost plus 25 cents. Any surplus from sales of pins, posters will be donated to provincial women’s organizations as recommended to the OFL Executive Board by the OFL Women’s Committee.
Last year, the March 8 Project was proud to support the following organizations:
- Equal Pay Coalition’s Equal Pay Day Campaign
- CBTU Hub Club Youth Camp: OFL sponsored 5 girls to attend
- Strawberry Ceremony MMIWG
- OCBCC – Child Care Worker and Early Childhood Educator Appreciation Day
- Rise Up: Feminist Archive
The price per pin for orders of 500 or more is $3.60 (plus shipping). Orders of less than 500 are $3.85 per pin (plus shipping). Unions that place orders of 500 or more pins will have their union logo added to the poster. Posters (11 in x 17 in) will be available in limited quantities in both English and French for $1.00 per poster.
To ensure delivery before International Women’s Day, the deadline for orders is February 9, 2021. Orders placed after that date may not arrive before March 8, 2021.
