The Ontario Federation of Labour’s Black and Racialized Workers’ Committee is proud to host Reclaiming Power, a vital conference uniting Black and Racialized trade unionists from across the province.
At a time when diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives are being quietly dismantled and loudly ridiculed, the labour movement must double down. Workers are watching. And Black and Racialized workers are feeling every cut, every dismissal, and every slogan that replaces substance.
This conference will take on the real issues, head-on:
- Workplace microaggressions and impact on Black and Racialized workers
- Authentic allyship
- Anti-racism in the workplace
- Building inclusive and equitable work cultures
- Mental health, trauma, and anti-oppression
- White privilege and systemic racism in Canada
- Cultural humility and intersectionality
- Responding to microaggressions
For Black and Racialized workers, identity isn’t optional. It doesn’t come off at the door. It’s present in every shift, every team meeting, every hiring decision, and every performance review. When equity efforts are watered down or discarded, it’s these workers who pay the price, often in silence.
The labour movement has a responsibility to lead. Reclaiming Power is about refusing to let that responsibility slip away.
Join us to reclaim power together!
Note: While this conference is open to all, due to limited space, priority will be given to Black and racialized workers, as well as members of equity-seeking groups.
