What’s at stake?

Over the last four years, Ford’s Conservatives have cut funding for schools by $800 per student (adjusted for inflation). In 2021-22, cuts totaled $1.6 billion.

Cuts to funding means cuts to services for students, including dwindling one-on-one support from Educational Assistants, school libraries without library workers, school boards choosing to cut corners on custodial and maintenance staffing, and more.

Education workers are fed up with the underfunding of Ontario’s education system and the undervaluing of the workers that make the system run. That’s why they voted overwhelmingly in support of strike action, should collective bargaining reach an impasse.

It’s time for Ford’s Conservatives to do what’s right for students, parents, and workers by getting back to the bargaining table, bargaining in good faith, and respecting workers’ rights.

Show your support by RSVPing to paint the province purple and support education workers’ fight to protect public education.
