Fighting Hate, Building Solidarity: Allyship in Action
Join the OFL’s Anti-Hate and Anti-Racism Summit for a day of learning, healing, and mobilizing.
Gain tools to challenge hate, build inclusive workplaces and communities, and take collective action for justice.
This one-day event will centre intersectional voices and experiences, offering space to learn, heal, connect, and mobilize.
Through interactive workshops and strategy sessions, participants will gain practical tools to take action in workplaces, unions, and communities while grounding that work in care, solidarity, and sustainability. From bystander intervention and protest safety, to bargaining for equity, sustaining mental health in activism, and creative resistance through zine-making, the summit aims to equip attendees to resist harm, challenge division, and build inclusive movements.
Summit Workshops being offered:
Description: Learn how to safely intervene in moments of harm, harassment, or discrimination. This session aims to give you practical tools to stand up, de-escalate, and help create safer spaces without escalating risk.
- Holding the Line: Protest Safety, Security & De-escalation
Description: Whether you’re marshalling, organizing, or showing up in the streets, this workshop aims to prep you with strategies to stay safe, support others, and defuse tensions while protecting the movement and each other.
- Allyship in Action: Fighting Hate Without Division
Description: This session aims to move past performative allyship and explore how to disrupt bias, challenge microaggressions, and counter divide-and-conquer tactics to build truly inclusive spaces.
- Bargain for Better: Negotiating Equity & Inclusion
Description: Learn how to embed intersectional equity into contracts, constitutions, and union policies that shift power.
- Healing While Fighting: Mental Health & Trauma in Activist Work
Description: This session aims to explore ways to care for your mind and body while resisting systems that harm. Ground your activism in sustainability and support.
- Zine Activism: Storytelling for Political Action
Description: This hands-on session aims to show you how to use zines, and other forms of artivism, as tools for political education, community-building, and protest.
