Join the OFL Solidarity & Pride Committee for a webinar on the ways COVID-19 has been affecting 2SLGBTQI+ communities.

The webinar will discuss the ways COVID-19 has affected Black, Black trans, and 2-Spirit lives. We will explore the ways that liberation groups can work together in this pivotal time and our intersectional commitment to justice for all. Panelists will speak from their expertise and lived experience on these issues before participants move to breakout discussion on four topics:

  • Gay blood ban
  • 2SLGBTQI+ communities, aging, and long-term care
  • Transitioning at work
  • Gay-straight Alliances

Dr. Jill Andrew, PhD is the MPP for Toronto-St.Paul’s. Jill serves as the Ontario NDP Culture Critic and Women’s Issues Critic for the Official Opposition. Jill is also a member of the Ontario NDP Black Caucus, a first of it’s kind in Ontario legislative history. Jill also sits on the Standing Committee on Public Accounts. Marjolaine LaPointe is an Equity and Inclusive Education Consultant and has been working in the field of Indigenous Education since 2002. Her primary focus is language and culture revitalization through contemporary and traditional teaching methods, weaving culture and language across curriculum strands, and student engagement. Currently focused on Equity in the classroom, Marjolaine’s skills and knowledge in the realms of privilege, anti-racism, culturally responsive and relevant pedagogy, and professional development for teachers are an invaluable asset to the education field.
