About the Project:
For more than a decade, the OFL’s March 8 Project has been supporting women’s organizations across Ontario as they rise, resist, and organize for equity across our province.
In 2023, as the project enters its 13th year, we are honouring this work with the theme: “WOMEN POWER UNIONS.“
Women have emerged as union leaders like never before. They are playing pivotal roles in intersectional decision making, bringing a gender lens to discussions around policy development and process implementation. Their voices and representation have been crucial to the pandemic recovery process. They are having immense impact on improving social, economic, and political outcomes for all genders, both unionized and non-union. They are blazing trails in the ongoing fight against marginalization and inequity, demanding better pay and benefits, safer workplaces, more flexibility, etc.
Celebrate women and their stories of survival, persistence, strength, and leadership this International Women’s Day by wearing an OFL 2023 Women Power Unions lapel pin and displaying our poster in solidarity and sisterhood.
We invite unions, community organizations, activists and public to take part in the annual March 8 Project by ordering pewter pins and posters which are works of art that you will value for many years to come.
Any surplus from sales of pins and posters will be donated to women’s organizations recommended by the OFL Women’s Committee to the OFL Executive Board. Previous year’s surplus funds went to support organizations such as:
- Ontario Equal Pay Coalition
- Coalition of Black Trade Unionists Hub Club Youth Camp: OFL sponsored 5 girls to attend
- Strawberry Ceremony honouring Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls
- Ontario Coalition for Better Child Care
- Rise Up: Feminist Digital Archive
- Various Women’s Shelters
- Native Women’s Organizations
Order Details:
The price per pin for orders of 500 or more is $3.25 (plus tax and shipping). Orders of less than 500 are $3.60 per pin (plus tax and shipping). All orders must be placed by February 14, 2023, in order to have the pins produced and shipped in advance of IWD. Orders can be placed after February 14, 2023; however, we can not guarantee receipt of order before March 8, 2023.
Unions that place orders of 500 or more pins will have their union logo added to the poster. Posters (11×17) will be available in limited quantities in both English and French for $1.15 per poster (plus tax and shipping).
