About the Project:
For more than a decade, the OFL’s March 8 Project has supported women’s organizations across Ontario as they rise, resist, and organize for equality across our province.
In 2022, as the project enters its 12th year, we are honouring this work with the theme: “HERstory.”
It has been an unprecedented two years for everyone around the globe. The pandemic disproportionately impacted those who are already facing inequity. This includes women, who are predominantly our frontline workers, our lifelines. In this time of crisis, we need to build systems of care.
Women are making HERstory everyday as sheroes during the pandemic. Celebrate women and their stories of survival and strength this International Women’s Day by wearing an OFL 2022 HERstory lapel pin and displaying our poster in solidarity and sisterhood.
We invite unions, community organizations, activists, and the public to take part in the annual March 8 Project by ordering pewter pins and posters which are works of art that our members and community partners will value for many years to come.
Any surplus from sales of pins and posters will be donated to provincial women’s organizations recommended by the OFL Women’s Committee to the OFL Executive Board. Previous year’s surplus funds went to support organizations such as:
- Ontario Equal Pay Coalition
- Coalition of Black Trade Unionists Hub Club Youth Camp: OFL sponsored 5 girls to attend
- Strawberry Ceremony honouring Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls
- OCBCC – Child Care Worker and Early Childhood Educator Appreciation Day
- Rise Up: Feminist Digital Archive
Order Details:
The price per pin for orders of 500 or more is $3.19 (plus tax and shipping). Orders of less than 500 are $3.54 per pin (plus tax and shipping). All orders must be placed by February 14, 2022, in order to have the pins produced and shipped in advance of IWD. Orders can be placed after February 14, 2022; however, we cannot guarantee receipt of order before March 8, 2022.
Unions that place orders of 500 or more pins will have their union logo added to the poster. Posters (11×17) will be available in limited quantities in both English and French for $1.11 per poster (plus tax and shipping).
