The Ontario Federation Labour (OFL) joins our affiliates in raising concerns about the College of Early Childhood Educators decision to raise their fees.
Registered Early Childhood Educators (RECEs) in Ontario- 95 percent of whom are women- provide key care services to our communities and support and nurture our children, and yet continue to be some of the lowest paid and most precarious workers in our province.
Financial pressures faced by the College should not be downloaded to the frontline workers, many of whom are struggling to make ends meet and continue to work in the field that they love.
We call on the College to reconsider their decision to raise annual registration fees and respect the workers they represent.
