Ontario’s labour movement is saddened to learn of the passing of our former colleague and dedicated labour activist, Catherine Macleod.
Catherine was a founding member of the Women’s Press and the Mayworks Festival of Arts and Labour. In the 1980s and early 1990s she served with the OFL as acting Human Rights Director and then as Communications Director. Catherine was involved in important campaigns for better child care, she helped establish the OFL’s Cultural Award, and was part of the establishment of the Ontario government’s Artists in the Workplace Program. These are just a few of her important contributions to our labour movement.
The Ontario Federation of Labour extends our deepest condolences to Catherine’s family, and the many friends across our movement that join us in mourning her passing.
Catherine’s obituary is available here.
