Every year since 1984, the Ontario Federal of Labour (OFL) has inducted five retired or deceased trade unionists into the OFL Labour Honour Roll. This prestigious recognition is intended to acknowledge the significant contributions of individual OFL members to the life and growth of the trade union movement in Ontario.
The Labour Honour Roll is also intended to inspire current and future activists to dedicate themselves to the labour movement and the broader fight for progressive social change.
Ahmad Gaied, OFL Executive Vice-President, announced and acknowledged the 2019 inductees:
- Mervis White, CUPE (Retired)
- Brenda Laslo, CUPW (Retired)
- Paul Mitchell, IAMAW (Deceased)
- Brian Hogan, OECTA
- Pearl Sawyer, UFCW (Retired)
Inductee Paul Mitchell’s daughter attended the convention as a delegate from SEIU and was delighted that her father was inducted to OFL Labour Honour Roll.
