Join the province-wide post-secondary caucus to get organized for the May 1 Day of Action!

The caucus is open to anyone who studies or works at a college, university, or any other post-secondary institution in Ontario.

What is the May 1 day of action?

On Sunday, May 1, thousands of people in locations all over the province will take action for a better Ontario. The day of action is part of a growing province-wide movement to challenge the harmful policies of the current provincial government and to raise our shared demands for what our campuses and communities need. Watch a teaser video about May 1 here.

The day of action has been called by the Ontario Federation of Labour and is being organized by labour organizations and community groups in 17 locations across Ontario: Barrie, Brampton, Guelph, Hamilton, Kenora, Kingston, Kitchener-Waterloo, North Bay, Oshawa, Ottawa, Peterborough, Sault Ste. Marie, St. Catharines, Sudbury, Thunder Bay, Toronto, and Windsor. Each local action will advance their own vision for a workers-first agenda in Ontario.

Why should students, staff, and faculty participate?

In the last four years, our campuses have faced countless attacks by the provincial government, from the so-called Student Choice Initiative, which attempted to destroy student autonomy and the right to organize on campus, to Bills 124 and 195, which suppresses the wages of campus workers and erodes their collective bargaining rights.

On the eve of a provincial election, our campuses and communities have the opportunity to ensure that post-secondary issues are election issues. The May 1 day of action is our chance to raise post-secondary demands in communities all over Ontario and to unite with a wider movement for a better Ontario.
