Film watch party & discussion with Filmmaker Layla Black
Join the Ontario Federation of Labour First Nations, Métis, Inuit Circle to watch a documentary film, which shares the story of Layla Black, Mohawk Turtle Clan from the Six Nations of the Grand River.
The film depicts Layla’s struggle to reclaim her cultural identity, the modern-day impact and generational trauma caused by residential schools and her family’s journey to reclamation through their eternal connection to the water and the discovery of traditional teachings.
Following the film there will be a discussion with Writer, Director, Producer Layla Black. She will discuss her story, the ongoing struggles Indigenous communities face today, and the broader anti-colonial struggle.
