While millions of Ontarians wait on stalled transit projects without opening dates, Metrolinx CEO, Phil Verster has enjoyed a 65% raise and little oversight from Ford’s Conservative government.
The Ford government has repeatedly chosen corporate cronies over the needs of Ontarians. After Doug Ford was elected in 2018, Verster’s salary skyrocketed to over $838,000 per year. That same year, Ford passed Bill 124, capping public sector workers’ wages. Since then, Verster and Metrolinx’s 82 VPs haven’t completed a single project on time or on budget. For example, costs for Premier Ford’s signature Ontario Line transit project increased by 43% in a single year.
Tell Premier Ford it’s time to stop giving his buddies a break, take accountability, and step up oversight of Metrolinx.
