The Ontario Federation of Labour will hold an important one-day conference, to address new legislative changes in Ontario’s Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) as they relate to sexual violence, sexual harassment, domestic violence and related matters. The conference will convene at 9:00 a.m., Thursday, October 6, 2016 at the OFL Building, 15 Gervais Drive, Toronto.
This conference will be of particular interest to local union leaders, staff representatives and health & safety, women and equity activists. Thanks to the work of the labour movement, harassment and violence in the workplace are now recognized as issues of health and safety, human rights and criminal law.

The Ontario Government recently passed Bill 132, An Act to amend various statutes with respect to sexual violence, sexual harassment, domestic violence and related matters. Bill 132 amended various existing statutes with respect to sexual violence, sexual harassment, and domestic violence. The important changes are amendments to the OHSA, which come into force on September 8, 2016.
This conference will review the legislative changes and discuss activities for action, best practices, and reform.
The conference fee is $100 including materials and lunch. Please send the completed registration form (attached) and a cheque for the total payment due, made payable to “OFL Violence & Harassment in the Workplace Conference”. The deadline for conference registration is September 30, 2016.

Child Care
It is OFL policy that we will provide childcare services if more than ten (10) children are registered for this service. The deadline for the childcare registration is September 19, 2016, as we must make these arrangements separately with the child care provider.
