Remembering Linda Ann Jolley – 1945 to 2013

Obituary: Linda Ann Jolley

Quietly, in her 68th year, Linda passed away at home, on September 24, 2013. Predeceased by her husband, Doug Felice, she is survived by her nephew Malcolm, her sister-in-law Jennifer, and her step-sons Craig and Christopher (Nakiea) and Christopher’s children Kiara and Cruz. Linda lived a life of passionate advocacy for the health and safety of working people. As research director for Stephen Lewis in the 1970s, she brought to light the hazards Ontario workers faced through exposure to asbestos and radon gas. At the Ontario Federation of Labour, she established the Workers Health and Safety Centre, a province-wide program of worker education in occupational health and safety. She went on to serve as the Director of Occupational Health and Safety for the OFL, and subsequently became a vice-president of the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board. A service in remembrance of Linda’s time on this earth will be held Thursday, October 17th at 3:30 p.m. at the Mount Pleasant Cemetery Visitation Centre, 375 Mount Pleasant Road (east gate entrance, north of St. Clair Ave., 416-485-5572). Reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Stephen Lewis Foundation or charity of your choice.
