The Administrative Assistant Summer Student, Archival Assistant & Special Projects supports OFL administrative teams, campaigns, communications, and special projects.

Term: Summer 2025 – Temporary 8 consecutive weeks between July 7, 2025 – August 29, 2025
Hours: 35 hours/week
Rate of Pay: $25.00 / hour

Qualifications:
The successful applicant will have:
- Post-secondary education in business administration, office administration, general humanities, labour studies or a related field;
- Strong written and verbal communication skills;
- Excellent organizational and time management skills;
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, and digital campaign tools;
- Self-motivated and a team player able to work independently or as part of a team;
- Available to work evenings and weekends;
- Ability to travel and possess a valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle;
- Ability to maintain confidential and sensitive information, and
- Attention to detail and accuracy
The Administrative Assistant Summer Student, working under the direction of the Executive Officers and General Secretary, is responsible for administrative and technical support for the archival operations of the Ontario Federation of Labour, and internal and external stakeholder engagement and special projects.
Responsibilities include:
- Supporting strategic initiatives under the direction of the Officers and OFL General Secretary;
- Carry out duties and task related to the OFL’s Know Your Rights Campaign as assigned by the General Secretary;
- Work with department directors and coordinators;
- Liaison with labour councils, affiliates, coalitions and community partners;
- Assist in the preparation, packaging, transporting and setting up of materials and equipment for events, actions and meetings related to the OFL campaigns;
- Worksite visits to provide information and materials to workers, and
- Assist with content creation.
- Filing, digitizing, updating, and archiving electronic and paper filing systems for records;
- Supporting the communications department in developing content around the campaign including interviews, photos and testimonials for social media;
- Developing opportunities for seminars, webinars etc., for young and new workers around labour rights and health and safety in the workplace (both primary and secondary prevention);
- Reporting on affiliation and coalition participation and engagement;
- Coordinating printing and other mailroom activities, and
- Other duties as assigned.
