Members of CUPE local 1544 are on strike at Timmins Transit – a service operated by the City of Timmins. Members of CUPE local 1544 took a strike action September 29, 2025, after members voted down a contract offer. Central to the strike are issues surrounding wages and retention and recruitment challenges across the transit system.
These 39 members of CUPE 1544 provide a range of important services, and include among the ranks: bus drivers, operators, mechanics and support staff that keep the transit system and the residents of Timmins moving.
