Workers at the Canadian Red Cross, represented by COPE Local 343, have been without a first contract since unionizing in 2022. Despite their critical role in disaster response and emergency management, work that’s become even more vital due to climate change and global crises – the organization has stalled negotiations and issued layoffs during a legally protected bargaining period. These layoffs disproportionately target union-active employees, raising serious concerns of union busting.
The workers are calling for the reversal of all layoffs and a commitment to finalize a fair contract that protects their jobs and respects their rights. Support their fight, sign on to demand the Red Cross board negotiate in good faith.
