OFL statement on the removal of PC candidate Tanya Granic Allen

The Ontario Federation of Labour condemns the Islamophobic and bigoted remarks about a number of communities in Canada that are attributed to Tanya Granic Allen.

The removal of Granic Allen from her position as the PC candidate in Mississauga Centre, for statements that the PC party calls “irresponsible,” is long overdue.

“Granic Allen’s discriminatory and bigoted statements should have kept her out of politics in the province of Ontario,” said Ontario Federation of Labour President Chris Buckley. “On June 7, it is essential that we elect representatives who will support cooperation, collaboration, and understanding among the people of Ontario, and in our government. Together, we will stand against hate in all its forms.”

The Ontario Federation of Labour (OFL) represents 54 unions and one million workers in Ontario. For informationvisit www.OFL.ca and follow the OFL on Facebook and Twitter: @OFLabour.
