Labour Leaders Join Celebration of Jack Layton’s Vision

On the anniversary of the passing of the Jack Layton, labour leaders from across the country joined thousands of people at Toronto’s City Hall to pay tribute to the beloved NDP Leader.

Jack’s last act was his open letter to Canadians, released hours after his death. What came next was a collective outpouring of grief and sorrow, unseen in recent memory. Canadians of various political stripes constructed ad-hock monuments, in cities and towns across the country, writing messages in chalk about how Jack Layton inspired them.

One year later, the Broadbent Institute organized a series of events across the country to honour the memory of Jack Layton – his ideas, his passion and his desire for change. Those who were unable to make it to the event were also able to leave a message at www.DearJack.ca.

The Ontario Federation of Labour and Olivia Chow are fundraising to erect a bronze statue of Jack at Toronto’s waterfront. To make your an online donation via credit card or PayPal, visit: http://beta.floating-point.com/ofl/index.php/laytonmemorial/
