The OFL Women’s Committee is producing a beautiful and commemorative IWD pin and poster to mark the 100th Anniversary of IWD Celebrations on March 8.

The project reflects women’s spirit, sisterhood and solidarity. Both the pin and poster are a work of art that our members and community would wear for many years. The theme reflects the many roles women play in our society; family, work and activist – “Many Hats: Sisters Sharing Hope Vision Solidarity.”

Our Sisters in Quebec began a similar project some years ago and it has become an annual event that has grown from a production of 20,000 pins to this year’s order of 130,000! Each year the pins are pre-ordered by affiliates (sight unseen) and women in the labour movement look forward to the creative artwork and beautiful pins. It has become a great symbol of the solidarity of women in the labour movement in Quebec. We are confident that new tradition will also be warmly adopted in Ontario.

In order to entice your union’s interest in purchasing large quantities of the pin, we are pleased to announce that any Union that orders “500 or more” pins before January 24, 2011 will have their union logo added to the poster.  We are selling the pins at the cost-recovery rate of $2.50 per pin for orders of 500 pins or more. Orders of less than 500 will have a cost of $3.00 per pin. In order to get the pins produced and shipped to affiliate head offices in advance of IWD, we need to have all orders placed before January 24. Pins will be delivered around February 7. Large orders may be shipped in portions as they are produced.
