Day of Action for CUPE 3903 at York to close university gates Friday May 4

(TORONTO, ON) – The Ontario Federation of Labour (OFL) will hold a Day of Action for CUPE 3903 at York University this Friday, May 4, 2018. Strikers and their supporters will be blocking entrances to York University.

Beginning at 7:30 a.m. Friday, OFL affiliates, Labour Councils, as well as community and campus supporters will join CUPE 3903 on their picket lines around York University. Traffic stoppages will begin at 8:00 a.m.

Teaching assistants, contract faculty, and graduate assistants who are members of Local 3903 of the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE 3903) have been on strike for nearly ten weeks in an effort to secure a fair collective agreement with York University, which continues to demand concessions and refuses to bargain seriously with the Union.

WHAT: OFL Day of Action for CUPE 3903 at York University

WHEN: Friday, May 4, 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

WHERE: York University Main Entrance, York Blvd and Keele St., moving to all entrances around York University campus shortly thereafter.

WHO: Ontario Federation of Labour, OFL affiliates, Labour Councils, CUPE 3903, campus and community allies.

WHY: To support CUPE 3903 members, who have been on strike since March 5.
